Timelapse Video of Moving from Newfoundland to Ontario

Posted on Mar 22, 2012
After packing up all of our belongings, we set up the camera in the cab of our uhaul and set out from St. John's. We were lucky to have good weather, and to be able to meet up with a few friends along the way.

To make this video, we had the camera take a picture every 30 seconds for the drive across Newfoundland, and then decided to increase that to every 20 seconds for the rest of the drive. Still, since it was such a long drive, the video still jumps quite a bit between frames. The video is most watchable near the end, in Quebec and Ontario, where the highways are much straighter and flatter.

The next time I make a driving timelapse I will choose a shorter drive and set the camera to take photos every 3-5 seconds. This would likely produce a smoother, more watchable video... although, there's something neat about zipping through 5 Canadian provinces in 6 minutes.
